Before tutoring begins, Small Town Scholars starts with a tutoring assessment intake and plan. This $150 prepaid service helps us better understand your child’s current academic needs, learning habits, confidence level, and grade-level expectations so we can recommend the right type of support.
Our tutoring assessment is designed for families who want more than a quick placement decision. We take time to look at where your student is now, what skills may need strengthening, and what kind of tutoring environment may help them move forward. For some students, that may mean filling in foundational gaps. For others, it may mean building stronger study habits, preparing for STAAR, gaining confidence in math, or receiving support in a specific subject area.
During the intake process, we review information about your student’s grade level, current academic concerns, and parent goals. When appropriate, we may look at school feedback, recent grades, learning patterns, or areas where your child feels stuck. The goal is not to label a student. The goal is to understand how they learn, where support is needed, and what plan makes the most sense.
After the assessment, families receive guidance on recommended tutoring options. This may include small-group tutoring, 1:1 academic support, guided study hall, executive functioning support, or subject-specific tutoring. We want parents to feel informed before choosing a tutoring plan, and we want students to begin with a clear path forward.
Small Town Scholars serves students and families in Crandall, TX and the surrounding area. We support students in grades 3–12 with academic tutoring, math support, Algebra support, Biology STAAR preparation, study skills, organization, and confidence-building academic help.
